Mayoral hopefuls to address pressing issues at Andrew & Walter Young Family YMCA on Oct. 19
The YMCA of Metro Atlanta today announced it will host an Atlanta Mayoral Candidates Forum at the Andrew & Walter Young Family YMCA in southwest Atlanta on Oct. 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The forum is limited to 50 attendees due to safety precautions but will be live-streamed on Zoom. All attendees will be required to wear masks.
While not a debate, candidates will provide the greater Atlanta community insight into some of the most pressing issues facing the city, including public safety, affordable housing and the coronavirus.
“We are proud to continue the tradition of hosting the Atlanta Mayoral Candidates Forum at the Andrew & Walter Young Family YMCA,” said Lauren Koontz, president and CEO of the Metro Atlanta YMCA. “We believe our communities are strongest when everyone has an opportunity to connect and this forum provides an ideal setting for Atlantans to engage with mayoral candidates.”
Andrew & Walter Young Family YMCA, named for two important Atlanta leaders, has long played a crucial role in convening communities and neighbors around significant topics and issues. This is the fourth time a mayoral forum has been held at this location.
“The Y is a place that improves our community and the way to improve the community is by voting,” said Andrew and Walter Young.
