Y Swim Lessons Build Confidence for All Ages and Stages

It may be cool outside, but our indoor pools are warm! Get a jump start on summer with Y Swim Lessons.

For more than 160 years, the YMCA has nurtured potential and united communities across America to create lasting, meaningful change. One of the most effective ways to accomplish this is to teach youth, teens, and adults to swim, so they can stay safe around water and learn the skills they need to make swimming a lifelong pursuit for staying healthy.

Y swim instructors are nationally certified. Their training includes CPR, AED, First Aid and Oxygen Administration. Y Swim Lessons provide important life skills that could save a life and will benefit students for a lifetime.

Register for the days/times that work with your schedule within the correct age group. A skills assessment will be administered during the first class to determine the Stage of Learning below. Participants are placed according to current skill level in order to advance quickly through the stages.

➤ Swim Starters ages 6 months – 3 years develops water enrichment and aquatic readiness in children ages six months to three years. This category focuses on developing swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences. Parents also learn how to supervise children in the water, how to prevent accidents and how to plan for emergencies.

➤ Swim Basics ages 3 years & up develops personal water safety and basic swimming skills in children ages three years and up. Swimmers develop a high level of comfort in the water by practicing safe water habits, engaging in underwater exploration, and learning how to swim to safety and exit if they fall into a body of water.

➤ Swim Strokes ages 3 years & up introduces and refines stroke technique in children, teens and adults. Having mastered the fundamentals, students learn additional water safety skills and build stroke technique, developing skills that prevent chronic disease, increase social-emotional and cognitive well-being and foster a lifetime of physical activity.

The staged approach allows swimmers to accelerate through stages and become confident swimmers. Learn more and register here for swim lessons.
