WHY IT MATTERS Annual Giving Campaign Kicks Off With $5 Million Goal

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta has officially kicked off the 2020 WHY IT MATTERS Annual Giving Campaign. WHY IT MATTERS raises funds that provide scholarships that allow children and families in our communities to access the Y’s life-changing programs, regardless of their circumstances or background.

In 2019 — for the first time ever —  we crossed the $5 million mark of funds raised for the WHY IT MATTERS Annual Giving Campaign to subsidize programs critical to the community. Because of volunteers and donors like you, we were able to offer access and opportunity to approximately 32,000 children, teens, adults and seniors in the form of scholarships for memberships, day and resident camps, swim lessons, teen leadership programs, youth sports, afterschool and early learning.

That’s 32,000 people who would otherwise be unable to access the kinds of programs and services we offer. 32,000 people who were able to experience the kind of support, caring and personal development that only the Y provides. 32,000 people who were enriched themselves and are now ambassadors for our Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. 32,000 people whose influence on the world will have been influenced by the Y.

In 2020, our fundraising goal for the WHY IT MATTERS Annual Giving Campaign is $5 million across our association. With your help, we can exceed that goal and provide access for even more members of our community to life-changing Y programs.

YMCA branches will be kicking off the WHY IT MATTERS Annual Giving Campaign over the next several weeks with fun events and opportunities to get involved. Your branch campaign may already be in progress. Be sure to ask a staff member for more information the next time you visit the Y.
