The Empty Stocking Fund (ESF) and the YMCA of Metro Atlanta today announced a partnership that will allow ESF to safely and efficiently distribute holiday gifts to parents and guardians of more than 40,000 children this holiday season.
Each year, ESF invites parents and guardians to Santa’s Village where they can choose gifts for their children who otherwise would not be able to receive presents. To accommodate CDC guidelines amid COVID-19, ESF developed a virtual shopping experience in partnership with the YMCA of Metro Atlanta.
“Since the pandemic began, we have been working on a plan that enables us to serve families when they need us most,” said Manda Hunt, executive director of The Empty Stocking Fund. “We developed an online registration and gift ordering platform, but still needed a way to safely and efficiently transport gifts from our warehouse to the kids. A partnership with the Y gave us the opportunity to reach those in need.”
With up to 30 different YMCA of Metro Atlanta locations acting as distribution centers, ESF will be well-positioned to broaden its reach and serve more children in the greater metro area. “If there is a silver lining to this pandemic, it is the opportunity to establish remarkable partnerships like this one,” said Allison Toller, chief social impact officer of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. A long-term distribution partnership with the Y would allow ESF to enhance its holiday gift distribution program and school supply distribution program to increase ESF’s impact in the community. It also allows the Y an additional opportunity to provide for families they serve.

“Of course, with greater impact comes the need for more funding. We are so incredibly excited about this partnership and hope the funding community—individuals and foundations alike—will see it as a smart, strategic decision that will add significant value throughout the metro Atlanta area,” said Hunt.
