Tuesday, September 3 marked the first day of school for students at The Arthur M. Blank Early Learning Center at E.A. Ware. Located within the YMCA Leadership & Learning Center, this state-of-the-art early learning facility will serve up to 90 children from the Vine City and English Avenue neighborhoods to start kindergarten on track for long-term academic success. Take a look at our first day of school!
The Arthur M. Blank Early Learning Center at E.A. Ware serves children 6 weeks to 5 years old in Early Head Start, Head Start, Traditional and Pre-K. The early learning center includes six classrooms, two messy rooms, observation rooms, an early learning performance stage, parent-teacher conference rooms, a parent resource room, and more.
Unique learning spaces are designed to maximize the Y’s signature programs — Read Right from the Start, Start For Life, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) education — while fostering social connectedness and collaboration among teachers, students, parents and the community. To help children stay connected to the natural world, the early learning center is designed to maximize natural light and incorporates nature-inspired color palettes and organic shapes, all proven to encourage learning.
In place of a traditional playground, the Delta Air Lines Outdoor Exploration Area is a unique interactive environment that incorporates tunnels, mounds, water play areas, music, an outdoor play kitchen, and more, giving children the opportunity for immersive play in nature.
The historic Jordan Hall is part of the original E. A. Ware school, named after the first president of Atlanta University and one of the first elementary schools in Atlanta to educate African Americans.
At the Y, we believe in empowering all people, especially children, regardless of their race, religion or socio-economic status, to gain the skills they need to reach their full potential.
