State Senator P.K. Martin Visits Y Early Learning Readiness Program

Families participating in the YMCA’s school readiness program recently welcomed State Senator P.K. Martin for a visit. Martin, the Youth and Education committee chair in Georgia’s senate, stopped by after hearing about the success of the program. Greeting caregivers and children in Spanish, Martin especially loved seeing parents actively participating in the learning activities with their children.

Currently, the Y offers 10 Early Learning Readiness sites throughout metro Atlanta twice a week from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Considered a non-traditional program for caregivers and children ages 0-5, the Y’s bi-lingual facilitators share valuable learning methods so children receive the necessary skills needed for kindergarten.
