At the Y, we believe in strengthening the foundations of our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Delta Air Lines is a leading example of building these values in the communities where we live, work and serve. On Wednesday, Feb. 5, the Delta SKY360 Club at Mercedes-Benz Stadium was transformed into a bike building workshop for Delta employees. They built fifty bikes, which were then donated to local Atlanta community partners, including the YMCA and the Atlanta Police Foundation.
The Delta team and Freddie the Falcon joined a group of preschoolers from Arthur M. Blank Early Learning Center at E.A. Ware at the YMCA Leadership & Learning Center to distribute the bikes and helmets. The children tested them out, surrounded by the support and encouragement of the Delta team, YMCA staff and Freddie the Falcon.
“On behalf of the children and families at E.A. Ware, I would like to thank Delta for gifting our children with bikes,” says Zarinah Winston, Center Director at Arthur M. Blank Early Learning Center at E.A. Ware.C “We all witnessed tons of laughter and smiles as each child claimed a bike of their own. Their generosity may now be a lifetime memory for a child.”
Delta Air Lines is an actively involved and committed partner of YMCA of Metro Atlanta. In 2019, over 300 Delta Air Lines employees completed volunteer projects at the YMCA such as re-mulching and remodeling of outdoor spaces, engaging in homework assistance, sports, games, reading and STEAM experiments with our early learners and afterschoolers. The work we do at the Y would not be possible without the generous investments from Delta Air Lines, and we are proud to partner with like-minded community leaders.
