Community Meals: USDA Hunger Program – Open to ALL children 18 and under 

Through the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program, the Y has four locations offering food distribution for ALL families that have children 18 years old and under.

YMCA Backpack Program  

Through a partnership with Publix Super Markets Charities and the Atlanta Falcons Foundation, backpacks of weekend food for YMCA afterschool and early learning families are distributed at six sites.

Additional YMCA Hunger Relief Efforts 

 

Northeast Cobb YMCA & Marietta School District / Marietta City Schools Partnership 

Each week Green Acres Baptist Church and Brumby Elementary School serve as delivery sites for the Atlanta Community Food Bank where staff and volunteers from the Northeast Family YMCA help to sort, pack food and distribute to families.  

Northwest Cobb YMCA & Freedom Church Partnership 

Northwest Cobb YMCA receives donations from members, and the community, along with online donations. YMCA staff and Freedom Church volunteers assemble food bags for families experiencing food insecurity throughout Cobb County. A 5-day supply of lunch items are delivered to 400 children living in Cobb County. Some of the locations include: 

Kennesaw Inn, Economy Inn, Superior Creek Lodge , Woodlands of Kennesaw, Lakeside vista at, Ellison LakesInTown KSUInTown Marietta 

 

Cowart Family YMCA & City of Brookhaven Partnership 

Beginning October 8th, the Cowart Family YMCA, in partnership with the City of Brookhaven, will receive food weekly from the Atlanta Community Food Bank at the Latin American Association where community volunteers will pack and distribute approximately 500 backpacks to local residents and community members. 

 

Carl E. Sanders Family YMCA at Buckhead– Afterschool Enrichment (ASE) Program 

During the school year, the Carl E. Sanders Family YMCA at Buckhead implements an afterschool enrichment program for K-5th grade students at three schools located on the Westside of Atlanta: Boyd Elementary, Bolton Elementary & Scott Elementary. As soon as schools closed due to the COVID19 pandemic, the YMCA leapt into action, delivering a dinner and a snack each weekday to the ASE participants’ homes. In partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank, YMCA staff and volunteers also pack and deliver backpacks of food, each week to all ASE families.
