The YMCA of Metro Atlanta will open a storefront at the Junior Achievement (JA) Chick-fil-A Foundation Discovery Center in Atlanta. The Y and JA held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Dec. 9 to celebrate the opening and the organizations’ partnership. As the largest childcare provider in the state of Georgia, the Y will have the opportunity to reach aspiring business leaders through the collaboration and showcase its Early Learning and After School programs within the storefront.

Organization’s latest resource offers fresh produce for community members The J.M. Tull-Gwinnett Family YMCA unveiled its new community garden on Wednesday, Oct. 12. The fresh resource, located at the front field of the facility, is available to YMCA of Metro Atlanta members and the greater community.

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta hosted its ‘Color my World’ event on Saturday, April 13 to celebrate community service contributions and artistic creativity of more than 150 middle school and teen leaders, representing 13 branches of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. The event featured an art gallery showcasing artwork and service projects created by middle school and teen artists.

Members of the federal Head Start program toured the Arthur M. Blank Early Learning Center at E.A. Ware Monday, May 20 as part of President Biden’s administration visit to Atlanta during the weekend.

Wade Walker Family YMCA Partners with Atlanta Hawks’ Esports Club to Host NBA 2K Tournament Wade Walker Family YMCA and Hawks Talon GC, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, hosted a panel and NBA 2K bracket-style tournament on July, 10 for 26 summer campers as part of the Y’s esports summer camp.

It has been a very successful summer for the Summit Family Y swim team. For the first time in the history of YMCA of Metro Atlanta swimming, two swimmers from Summit qualified to compete at 2024 YMCA National Long Course Swimming Championships.

The Y’s Welcoming Week will be held September 13 – 22. During this time, visitors will receive a free one-day guest pass to explore the Y. Guests can try everything from Zumba classes, equipment and taking a dip in the pool. In addition, the Y will waive joining fees for those who register to become a member

The Y’s partnership with the Atlanta Hawks was on full display recently as the YMCA of Metro Atlanta served as the presenter for the Hawks Basketball Academy’s 13th annual Atlanta Hawks Coaches Clinic. More than 200 local coaches – community, scholastic and collegiate – gathered at the Emory Sports Medicine Complex, the official practice facility for the Hawks, to learn directly from the team’s coaching staff about coaching best practices that will equip them with advanced tools and methods to enhance their coaching skills and elevate youth basketball in Georgia.
