Major Milestone!

Last week our COVID-19 Hunger Relief Programs reached a major milestone. We have served more than 100,000 meals to members of our community in need. Actually, we made it up to 113, 014 meals last week – but who’s counting? We could not have done this without our members, donors and friends of the Y. Thank you!

Here is how that number breaks down:

>>The Y has provided 51,770 free snacks and dinners at YMCA locations for children under the age of 18 at eight Y locations.

>>2,305 snacks and grab & go meals have been served to children in our Head Start programs from four of our Early Learning Centers.

>>We have provided more than 13,75weekend back packs of food (feeding a family of 4) for families at our Y locations and through partners and direct distribution to families in their neighborhoods.

>>Each week and throughout COVID-19, the Robert D. Fowler YMCA staff and members provide weekly groceries to 20 low-income families.

>>Camp High Harbour at Lake Burton has partnered with the Northeast Georgia Food Bank, providing urgently needed manpower and facility space to receive and sort 80,000 pounds of food to date.

>>In partnership with the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation and Empire State South, 500 meals were provided between the East Lake Family Y and Andrew and Walter Young Family Y.

>>The Northwest Family Y and Northeast Family Y in Cobb County have partnered with the Atlanta Braves Home Plate Project distributing 2,250 meals to date.

Thank You Anthem

The Y is incredibly grateful for our long-standing partnership with the Anthem Foundation, which for more than five years, has supported our Foster Family Connections program at the Ed Isakson/Alpharetta Family YMCA and Forsyth County Family YMCA. Their commitment has been critical to providing Y membership and program scholarships to foster families and ensuring that children in foster care are more likely to thrive in spite of the challenges they face. As we began delivering our emergency relief programs, the Anthem Foundation was one of the first partners provide vital support to the Y’s emergency relief programs. Thank you, Anthem, for standing with our community and helping those affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
