 | Val Markos & the Spin Doctors ATLANTA (September 27, 2010) The Robert D. Fowler Family YMCA is recognizing Val Markos as its 2010 volunteer of the year. Markos will be honored at the YMCA of Metro Atlanta annual volunteer recognition dinner Monday, November 8, 2010, at the Cobb Galleria Centre. Markos first became involved in the Y through a spinning class 10 years ago. Currently, he is serving his fourth year as a Y volunteer. He is a board member, communications and commitment committee chair and leads the “Spin Doctors,” a crew of Y members who voluntarily maintain the spin bikes at the Fowler Y. In addition to his Y volunteer service, Markos works as a consultant and helps to provide employment assistance for several congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Markos and his wife reside in Norcross. They have three children and seven grandchildren. The Y is a powerful association of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn grow and connect. |
