MENTORING & VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS
BROTHER TO BROTHER
The Brother To Brother program has served youth throughout Metro Atlanta for over 10 years. This gender specific program mentors males ages 10—17. The approach is to develop these young men mentally, physically and spiritually through a well-rounded program that focuses on life/social skills, prevention/intervention strategies, educational enhancement and youth sports. We provide the information that empowers our participants with the confidence to making healthy choices. Brother To Brother’s mission is to “plant seeds” that will grow and flourish as these young men mature into adulthood. Members are left with a charge to do their best and to never give up. The group meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Field trips and special events are planned throughout the year.
FOR SISTERS ONLY
This program serves as a mentoring group for females ages 13 through 19. The participants meet during weekly group sessions discussing topics such as: self-esteem, conflict resolution, physical/mental health, career/goal setting, leadership training, and many other issues important to their growth and development. The core character values of the YMCA, caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility are woven into our curriculum and group activities. Volunteers are recruited from around the community to serve as mentors to the participants. Field trips and special events are planned throughout the year. The group meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
