Youth Sports
YMCA Youth Sport Philosophy The Summit Family YMCA provides the oppurtunity for youth develpment through various sports. Our Youth Sports program includes swim team, tennis, basketball and soccer. An important component of YMCA Youth Sports is the concept of fair play and respect for oneself, ones opponent and others involved in competition. Players, volunteer coaches, officials, and spectators share a responsibility for fair play and good sportsmanship. Good sportsmanship for the YMCA is encompassed by the concept of positive character development. The six pillars of character, trustworthiness, caring, fairness, respect, citizenship, and responsibility are standards we believe help teach participants that learning fundamentals, respecting others and having fun as a team is more valuable than winning every game. In YMCA sports, every child is a winner. Everyone plays in every game regardless of ability.
