Meet our new Executive Director!
Jeff Alevy was promoted to executive director of the Summit Family YMCA in Newnan. In this role he also will oversee the operation of the Fayette Family YMCA in Fayetteville and the Henry County YMCA in Stockbridge.
Formerly the executive director of the Henry County Family YMCA, Alevy has more than 10 years YMCA leadership experience. “As a seasoned Y professional, I am thrilled with the opportunity to have a positive impact on the Summit YMCA and look forward to establishing community partnerships in Newnan, Coweta and Fayette counties,” says Alevy. “My work is about continuing the legacy many dedicated volunteers and Y staff have begun in CowetaCounty. My vision is to include our stakeholders in creating a go-forward vision in how to best serve the kids and families in our local community."
Alevy became the Henry County executive director in 2001 and started YMCA programs in the county. In 2008 there were more than 2,500 registrations for camp, swim, sports and outreach programs. Alevy also established collaborations with schools, churches, businesses, private organizations, and government agencies. He secured and managed more than $500,000 in grants for that local YMCA.
Alevy is an experienced fund raiser and led the board development efforts in Henry County. He directed fundraising teams which consistently produced results for the YMCA Partner With Youth annual giving campaign. Recently, he secured a $1.5 million YMCA endowment gift.
One of Alevy’s top accomplishments in Henry County was guiding the volunteer board of managers through a five-year strategic plan. With key volunteers, he facilitated the process of establishing a public/private partnership for the construction of a full-facility, family YMCA which led to the an offer by the county Board of Commissioners for 20 acres of land ($3 million value) and $6.5 million for construction of the YMCA as a community recreation center.
Alevy has a Master of Business Administration from Barry University in Miami and a Master of Education in experiential and outdoor recreation from Georgia College & State University. His outdoor interests include mountain biking, trail running, swimming, SCUBA, and recreational rock climbing as well as traveling. His wife, Renate, is a registered nurse at Piedmont Newnan Hospital, and enjoys trekking, biking and training her Dalmation.
Buddy Evans, former executive director of the Summit Family YMCA, left this position in March 2009 to join the executive team of the Central Florida YMCA in Orlando.
