Number One: Mary Jo is the number one supporter of the branch lacrosse program. She planted the seed for this incredible program and nurtured it to involve 600 youth and 90 volunteer coaches. She also orchestrated several tournaments that raised thousands of dollars for the annual Partner With Youth campaign.

Shining Star: Mary Jo created the STAR (Students That Accept Responsibility) volunteer program. This program allows any child to ‘give back’ by working the concession stand, lining the fields, picking up trash, coaching, and mentoring. “She established our Y lacrosse program to be the feeder program for all high school and middle school programs in the Buckhead area,” says Kristin McEwen, Sanders Buckhead YMCA executive director.

Much Loved: “I love the satisfaction of knowing and helping young people learn, grow, engage, give back, and take responsibility. My experience with the Y has been heartwarming. It certainly is something I wish I had when I was a child. I want parents to know we’ve created a special environment for their kids. The YMCA holds true to its values, so parents know their kids are in a great place.”
