2009 Volunteer of the Year
Dr. Nicola Chin
Priceless: “The YMCA is invaluable to our community. The Y strives to bring families together to build relationships and foster learning experiences through diverse interactions. I am very passionate about the Y’s character-building programs for children and teenagers.”
Dedicated: “I promote Y programs to the kids who visit my pediatric office as a way to facilitate an outlet for developing their character and individual growth. Many parents are unaware of the positive programs offered by the Henry County YMCA.”
Heart of Gold: “My life is one of service to our children. My Y volunteer experience enables me to contribute financially, to educate others on the benefits of YMCA involvement, to direct families to our programs, and to have hands-on involvement through service.”
Youth Fit for Life: As a pediatrician concerned about the current youth obesity (and diabetes) epidemic, Dr. Chin is an avid supporter of the Y’s Youth Fit For Life™ program. She encourages everyone – no matter what age – to develop in spirit, mind and body.
Y Involvement: Three years as an active board member, Y advocate in the community, seeks resources and funds for the Y, and forges partnerships with local organizations.

Your YMCA, reflecting its Judeo-Christian heritage, is an association of volunteers, members and staff, open to and serving all,
providing programs and services which develop spirit, mind, and body. Financial assistance is available based on need. The YMCA actively
seeks to identify and involve those in need.
