Exercise is crucial for good health. The Surgeon General has stated that physical inactivity is a significant factor in heart disease, adult onset diabetes and colon cancer. Lack of exercise also contributes significantly to hypertension and obesity.
Did you know: Without specifically directed help, 40% to 65% of new and returning exercisers drop out within the first
3 to 6 months of their new exercise plans?
It doesn't have to be that way!

THE COACH APPROACH® is a YMCA exercise support process (ESP), designed to teach new and returning exercisers how to start and stick with exercise programs. At no additional cost to you, the YMCA will pair you with a personal wellness coach.
With the help of your coach you will learn how to:
· Kick the inactivity habit
· Build your success as an exerciser
· See the connection between short-term goals and long-term physiological changes
· Commit to a manageable program
· Shape your workouts around the activities you prefer
· Stay on track even when your schedule throws you a curve ball
· Get one-on-one coaching
Whatever the reason your lifestyle seems to be squeezing the life out of you, the COACH APPROACH® will be a welcome change of pace.
Teaching you how to start and stick with exercise will help you:
· Reduce fatigue and sleep irregularities
· Increase energy levels
· Improve mood
· Ward off disease
· Enhance overall feelings of well being
THE COACH APPROACH® will use a series of one-on-one meetings between you and your YMCA wellness coach. One size does not fit all when it comes to trying on an exercise plan. For this reason, the YMCA offers a brief and highly computer accurate assessment of what works for your unique body, mind and spirit. This assessment profile helps us help you design an active lifestyle plan that fits best with your current level of fitness, motivation, and work/life balance. At planned follow-up meetings with your coach you will review your progress, feedback and revise your exercise plan to match your goal progress. You will have a series of scheduled appointments with a wellness coach over a six month period of time:
Initial Meeting: Meet with a wellness coach, get started in THE COACH APPROACH® by learning about the variety of fitness classes and equipment we have available for your health and fitness needs.
Follow-Up Appointment 1: Meet with your wellness coach 7 to 14 days following the initial appointment and begin to create your workout plan.
Follow-Up Appointment 2 & Beyond: Meet with your wellness coach every 1-2 months to update your program, obtain feedback and review/revise your goals!
If you have any questions or want to try something different, just huddle with your coach. The days of doing it alone are over. No more sitting on the bench.
Tracking your exercise progress is an important aspect to success and our computerized Fitlinxx System makes this easy. The software allows our staff to create individualized programs across all components of exercise, configured to deliver optimum results for each member. The Fitlinxx system contains all the adjustments, the range of motion and amount of weight and displays it at each machine so that you don't have to remember them. It will then record all your exercise information and store it on your computer file. You can access your records on the internet at www.fitlinxx.com to view your progress and get additional information and tips to help make your exercise program more successful and enjpyable.
