* The Exclusive AccuWeather RealFeel Temperature is an index that describes what the temperature really feels like. It is a unique composite of the effects of temperature, wind, humidity, sunshine intensity, cloudiness, precipitation and elevation on the human body--everything that affects how warm or cold a person feels.

Temperature by itself gives only part of the picture. Other measures, like the Wind Chill or Heat Index, include temperature and only one additional element like wind speed or humidity and many are designed to measure effects on an inanimate object or an unclothed person. None of them tell what it really feels like to an appropriately dressed person. Only The AccuWeather RealFeel Temperature includes everything that affects how warm or cold a person feels.

News and Announcements
  • Congratulations to the 2009 Forsyth County Family YMCA Volunteer of the Year: Roberto Gomez

    Roberto Gomez

    Forsyth  County Family YMCA

Living the Mission : “Roberto is one of the most humble, Christ-like people I have ever known. It is as natural as breathing for him. There aren’t many days that Roberto doesn’t do something for someone in need. He is quietly, constantly giving,” says Kevin Thompson, executive director.

More Than a Game: “Outside of the technical skills, the kids learn a lot from their Y experience with sports. Soccer is like a family with good communication and very friendly. It’s not the best because of me. I just do my best. It’s the whole group that brings the team together.”

My Other Family: “Every day I find myself using the experience I’ve gained as a YMCA volunteer. The Y is my second family. I enjoy watching the players grow in their technical skills as they mature into young adults.”

A Better Way : Roberto looks for players who may not have other opportunities and recruits them. He will find boys and girls who might be headed for trouble, and encourages them to play soccer instead.
