About the Laurathon
Decatur resident Laura Peyton invites the community to "pay it forward" by participating in the July 18 Decatur-DeKalb Family YMCA annual four-mile run. Three years ago the run, dubbed the Laurathon, raised money for a prosthetic leg for Peyton.
Peyton's vivacious personality, upbeat attitude and caring spirit have touched many Decatur residents. Peyton is again working out at the Y. This year Peyton's journey of healing is a celebration of triumph and progress.
"The community really united for the Laurathon in 2006. Now it's time to provide opportunities to others in the Decatur community," says Peyton. Proceeds from this year's YMCA run will benefit local kids and families through the YMCA Partner With Youth financial assistance program. "I encourage everyone to participate and "pay it forward," she says.
Fall Soccer 2009:
Registration will begin on July 1, 2009 and run through July 21, 2009 for Fall recreational soccer. On-line registration will be available as well as at the YMCA registration desk.

The Decatur-DeKalb YMCA building is 48 years old; the systems in place are beginning to fail. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience, and strive to repair the failing systems without affecting your membership whenever possible.
In an attempt to broaden our communications with all our members, we have subscribed to a company called "Status Me". Subscription to Status Me is a voluntary choice, no fee attached. When you enroll, you will be providing us with your email, as well as your cell phone number (for text purposes only), so that when systems here at the YMCA are not working, such as steam rooms, whirlpools or the pool, you will be notified by email and/or text messaging as to the closure of said systems as well as the status of repair.
