General Info: (Ages 3-14* years-boys & girls) Age as of August 1, 2009 will determine child's age group.

There are no tryouts for recreational soccer programs. Designed to build elementary and intermediate skills, fundamentals and love of the sport. All practices and games are held in the Decatur/Atlanta area at various schools and parks. The YMCA registers and schedules U14 and above age groups through the Georgia Youth Soccer Association.

Spring 2010 - Saturday League (Outdoor)

Season Dates: Kiddie Kickers have team practice for 30 minutes and play a 30 minute game on Saturday mornings starting Oct. 3rd (6 week program). Jr. Micro, Micro and U8 age groups practice once per week and play games on Saturday mornings. U10 and above age groups practice twice weekly and play games on Saturdays, occasional Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. Practice starts the week of August 24th for U10 and above age groups (8-14 yr olds) and games start on Sept. 12th (10 week program). Practice starts the week of August 31st for U7 & U8 age groups (6-7 yr olds)and games start on Sept. 19th (9 week program). Practice starts the week of August 31st for Jr. Micro and Micro age groups (4 & 5 yr olds) and games start on Sept. 19th (8 week program).  New parent orientation and coach meetings will be held prior to season start dates. Season will conclude on Nov. 7th or Nov. 14th (varies which age), with Nov. 14 or Nov. 21st reserved for a rainout date due to inclement weather. Above dates are subject to change.

All NEW DDY soccer players, except Kiddie Kickers, are required to purchase a DDY Recreational Soccer uniform. The cost is $30.00 and should be purchased at time of registration. Kiddie Kickers program fees include t-shirt and socks.

Winter 2010 - Indoor

This is the ideal program for youth soccer fans who want to stay in shape and have fun during the winter months. Indoor soccer is a fast-paced game with lots of excitement!

Ages:
4 - 17 years (Age as of August 1, 2009)

Registration: November 2 - December 6, 2009.  Registration available on-line at www.quickscores.com/ddymca or in person at the membership desk.

Season Dates:  January 9 - February 14, 2010

Summer 2010 - Summer Soccer & Soccer Clinics

Summer Soccer:
A funfilled soccer program during the summer months to help keep players active.  Summer soccer meets on Saturday mornings and begins with a practice session then concludes with round robin game play.  Players are not assigned to a specific team, but are randomly assigned to a different team each week.  This gives the player an opportunity to play with all players and to learn under a different coach each week.  Each team will represent a national soccer team and will have the national jersey.  At the end of the program all players will receive a jersey.

Ages: 3-12 years old (Age as of July 1, 2010)

Registration: May 1 - June 19, 2010 either on-line (www.quickscores.com/ddymca ) or in-person at the YMCA.

Season Dates:  Saturday, July 10th through Saturday, August 14th.

Fees: Facility Member $60.00     Program Member $75.00

Advanced Soccer Skills Clinic:
Come learn soccer specific skills from the best!  Clinics feature Academy Coaches Jason Fargo and Toby Ozias with over 50 years playing experience between the two of them.   They will offer two different clinics for all players.  Skills clinic will focus on dribbling, trapping, passing, receiving, team tactics, formations, and positioning.  Goal Keeper Clinic will focus on keeper specific skills.  Both clinics will be held from 8:00 am-12: noon at Pattillo Soccer field.

ACADEMY & SELECT SOCCER |Back to top

For boys and girls ages 8-16, the purpose of the Academy & Select competitive soccer program is to develop advanced skills in players interested in a higher level of commitment than the YMCA recreational soccer program requires. Players must attend evaluations and be selected to participate. Paid coaches and trainers operate under Georgia Youth Soccer Association rules and guidelines.

Decatur-DeKalb YMCA teams are coached by Jeff Newbury, Jason Fargo, Doug Kennedy, Toby Ozias, Richard Richmond, and Robert Richmond.

Spring 2010

Age Groups:
Academy - Ages 8-11 years old as of August 1, 2009.
Select - Ages 12-13 years old as of August 1, 2009.

Academy & Select Try Outs:   Spring 2010 season tryouts and evaluations will begin in January 2010.  Please check back for exact dates in December. 

Season Dates: Academy  & Select practices will start in February 2010. All teams will practice twice a week for an hour and half at the Samuel L. Jones Boys & Girls Club. Games start on March 6th. All home games will be played at Pattillo Soccer Park and away games will be played at local soccer clubs in the Metro Atlanta area. The regular season will conclude in mid May. Pre and post season tournaments will be attended, but will be determined at a later date.

Coach Pitch Baseball - 7 & 8 Years Old Age Division
This program is designed for kids ages 7 & 8 years old to teach them the concept of baseball.  Each team's coach will pitch to them during games. Each team will practice once a week and play games during the week.

Little League Baseball- 9-12 Years Old Age Divisions
This program is designed for kids ages 9-12 years old. Each team will play Little League Baseball. At the first game (9-10 yrs. old age division only) the team's coach will pitch, and then team player's will pitch the following games. Each team will practice once a week and play games during the week.

Each week of camp participants will learn the basic fundamentals in each sport.  Each day camp participants will learn how to play each of the following sports: Basketball, Flag Football, Baseball, Soccer and more... with emphasis on team play and sportsmanship.

Come and learn how to play golf.  Golfers will work on putting, chipping, wedge play and full swing in group stations.  Groups will rotate the stations each day spending about 30 minutes at each station. 

Campers will need to be at the Decatur - DeKalb YMCA no later than 8:30 a.m. to leave on the bus at 8:45am.  Students will take classes at the Sugar Creek Golf Course off of Bouldercrest Road from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  Campers will return to the Decatur - DeKalb YMCA at 1:00 and will spend the rest of day participating in general camp activities.  Campers will provide their own lunch each day.

(There will be a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 campers in each session)  


Before & After Care  
Before and After Care is available at the Decatur-DeKalb YMCA at no additional cost for campers who are registered in a full day camp.
Pre Camp Hours - 7:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m.
Post Camp Hours - 4:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
Clinics are run with the summer camp program. They will use the same before and after care program.

Coaches
All recreational teams are coached by volunteers. Your help in volunteering your time or assisting in finding other coaches is greatly appreciated! The Decatur-DeKalb YMCA relies on community and parent volunteers to coach its seasonal recreational sports teams. All volunteers must fill out an application for volunteer service and undergo a background check.

Soccer Referees
