The Decatur-DeKalb YMCA offers more than 100 group fitness classes weekly.  Please check out our fitness schedule to find out about the classes offered.  We offer step aerobics, high/low-impact aerobics, Pilates Mat based classes, Body Pump, Spinning, Yoga, Tai Chi, body sculpting, and several water aerobics classes.  All instructors are nationally certified and have current CPR.  For ages 13 and up.

Class Descriptions:

Abs
- an intense 15-20 minute workout for the abdominal region.
Body Pump - the original barbell workout designed to strengthen and tone major muscle groups. It's the most fun you'll ever have lifting weights!
Body Sculpt - sculpt, strengthen and stretch your muscles from head to toe.
Boot Camp - class could consist of jumping jacks, push-ups, crunches, resistance bands, hand weights, kick-boxing, lunges, squats, stability ball training, bosu ball training and much more.
Chi-Gong -  a more energetic form of Tai Chi.
Chi-Splash - moves from Tai Chi done in the water to increase resistance.
Core Strength - works abdominal and back muscles through exercises inspired by pilates and yoga, using mats and resistance balls.
Cycle - A 45-60-minute indoor cycling program that offers a challenge for the body and mind. Bring a water bottle.
Deep Water - a 45-minute class utilizing buoyancy belts for an aerobic workout, without the impact.  You do not need to be a swimmer!
Easy Does It - an exercise class in the water for people who have any type of arthritis.  Participants will work on body conditioning and non-impact exercises.  Muscular strengthening and toning, using a full range of motion.
H.E.A.T.(High Energy Athletic Training)- advanced movements that combine strength, flexibility and cardio at the same time.  Uses weights, benches and mats.
Hi/Lo (with Sculpting) - a mixture of high/low-impact aerobic moves; some classes incorporate sculpting with hand weights.
Hip-Hop - an aerobic workout focusing on urban and club dance moves.
Hop Sports - a virtual fitness program, making exercise fun for everyone
Just For You Pilates/Stretch - an intro to Pilates designed for new and returning exercisers. May use balls and bands.
Kick-boxing - a moderate to high intensity workout using karate and boxing moves to strengthen and tone your entire body.
MS Society - a water class in which participants work on balance, coordination, toning, and stretching.
Nia - a dance class that combines the dynamic power of martial arts and the mind/body connection of yoga for a workout that will pump your heart, strengthen your muscles, and increase flexibility
Pilates  - a form of stretching, strengthening and lengthening poses designed to strengthen your core and improve posture.
Power Yoga - advanced yoga moves done at a quicker pace.  Bring your own mat.
Beginner/Basic Step - a low impact or beginner step format for anyone over 55 or just beginning.
Step - beginner, intermediate, advanced.  A dance class that involves stepping on and off an adjustable step to increase your cardio workout.
Step Interval - short segments of intense aerobics, including high/low, kickboxing or step, alternating with segments of resistance work.
Tai-Chi - explore a variety of ancient Chinese poses and postures, focusing on moves to create strength and achieve balance.
Turbo-kick - a high intensity, choreographed cardio-kickboxing class.
Water Aerobics  - use the water's resistance for an aerobic and toning workout without impact.
Yoga - integrate spirit, mind and body through the use of breathing techniques and movement patterns.  Bring your own mat.
Zumba - a Latin-inspired dance class appropriate for all fitness levels. Come join the party!
