Adventure Guide
4 years old - 8 grade

Registration Dates August 1 - September 15

What is an Adventure Guide?

It’s a little girl who has just spent her first night away from
home with a daddy who is not real good at braiding hair.

It’s a little boy who just shot his first bow and arrow
with a mom who just shot her first bow and arrow.

It’s a little fellow who has just caught the biggest fish of
his life with the minnow his mom or dad put on his hook.

It’s fun, it’s love, it’s togetherness.

New Member Manual

Children in Adventure Guides are ages 4 through 8 grade. Children at this age are excited and
inquisitive and enjoy learning new skills, making new friends and having new experiences. At this age
children want to try anything once, “curiosity” reigns along with fears and a need to have mom and
dad’s approval.

The Adventure Guides program is composed of circles.  A circle consists of a group of moms or
dads and their sons or daughters. A circle usually consists of an average of 8-10 parent/child pairs.

The circle meets once a month in a member’s home. Homes are rotated as meeting sites. One Mom
or Dad is selected as Navigator. During the early part of the year, the circle selects a name and begins
work on Adventure Guide vests and necklaces.

The meeting consists of a planned program including the scouting report where each child has a turn
to speak before the group and share patches they have earned and accomplishments they have
achieved since the last circle meeting.

Crafts, games and story telling are a fun part of the meeting and teach sportsmanship and socialization.
Refreshments are always a treat for children and parents alike and provide a relaxed social environment
and an opportunity to develop friendships. A Circle will go on campouts together and plan circle outings.
They enjoy working on service projects and working together to create their own circle property such as
a banner, a drum, and/or a talking stick.

Both you and your child will meet new friends and create lifetime memories together. This is a special
time in your child’s life. The Adventure Guides Program is an ideal way to share the excitement of many
of your child’s first experiences, experiences that will last a lifetime.

Adventure Guides - It’s the way to open the door to new horizons for you and your child.
