Partner With Youth Financial Assistance
Alverez Stampley - AlverezS@ymcaatlanta.org

"The staff have been responsive to needs of those with financial limitations and offered scholarship making it possible for me to continue with my exercise, which the doctor ordered."
-Janet, Facility Member since January 2007

Inclusion is at the heart of the YMCA mission.  The YMCA is for every one of all faiths, races, abilities, ages and incomes.  As a nonprofit, community-building charity, the Metro Atlanta YMCA strives to make its programs widely affordable and accessible.  Donors contribute to the YMCA’s Partner With Youth annual campaign, which funds the financial assistance program. The funds available are determined by the amount raised in your community each year.

What does Partner With Youth financial assistance cover?
Partner With Youth financial assistance is for people of all ages. Based on your needs and the YMCA's available funds, it will cover a portion of the fee or the entire cost of:

  • YMCA membership. Your facility membership is good for one year.  Benefits of membership include access to Metro-wide YMCA locations, most wellness classes, a free fitness assessment, free drop-in babysitting, and more.
  • One session of a specific program. Youth sports leagues, after school child care, summer day camp, aquatics, holiday camps, and parent-child activities are just a few examples. Financial assistance is not transferable from branch to branch. Not all programs are available for financial assistance.

How is the financial assistance amount determined?
A sliding fee scale based on your household income and the number of people living in your household.

When will I receive the financial assistance?
Please submit your application at least two weeks before you want it to begin. We will check availability for the program you desire. Two weeks is the longest amount of time it will take to process. Generally, you will be notified within one to two weeks.

Can I re-apply?
You may re-apply for continuing facility membership, additional program sessions or for other programs. Please re-apply one month before the desired start date.

Who will know I am receiving financial assistance?
The YMCA keeps your financial disclosures confidential.  You may be asked to share your Partner With Youth story with other YMCA members.  This is done at your discretion.

How do I apply for financial assistance?
Please see member services for an application.

The Cowart Family/Ashford Dunwoody YMCA seeks to serve everyone in the community regardless of income.  In 2007 we assisted 1,000 program participants with a scholarship value of $154,000.
