The Y Proudly Supports AAPI Heritage Month
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, which celebrates the history and culture of Americans from Asia and several Pacific islands including Polynesia. The Y is proud to honor and celebrate the contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander employees and staff.
In 2023, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta strengthened its international presence and boosted its support of the AAPI community by joining the YMCA Philippines Coalition. This partnership allows the Y to strengthen its relationship with AAPI organizations and allies including the Asian & Pacific Islander Leadership Network (APILN), a nationwide community of Y Asian & Pacific Islander staff, volunteers, and allies who share information and resources through social activities and online experiences.
This is the third international coalition the Y of Metro Atlanta has joined. The Y is also a member of the YMCA South Africa Coalition and YMCA Republic of Georgia Coalition. Coalitions provide space for Y-to-Y partnership priorities and focus on larger global issues.
